“What to drink?”- The simple question that we have been asking many times a day, every day of our life. The answer is the most basic decision we make about how to protect and nurture ourselves.

‘From mothers’ milk, water, soft drinks, tea and coffee… to beer, wine, whisky and an endless variety of alcoholic drinks. From life necessity to life luxury, even to life threatening drinks.

Are we aware of what and why we are drinking? Are we acknowledging how much we really need?

At first our mothers decide for us and give up a part of themselves. Who makes the decision then? Do we? Do our habits? Do marketing people? Are we really in control?

Knowledge and information is available everywhere. But many of us also have ignorance and excuses.

Do we make our decisions based on what we need? Or is life about doing what we want? If we can control our lives, why do our emotions lead us astray?

Are choices always good for us? What if they’re bad choices?

Does variety mean we are more developed, more civilised or more democratic?

If the default answer for thirst is water how do we end up with so many answers?

I don’t have the answer but I will keep asking.

What are we drinking? Why are we drinking? And what are we drinking for?
