‘Hornbill Villa’ Nino Sarabutra 200 terracotta pots, 2023, Benjakitti Forest Park, Bangkok

Deforestation has had a devastating effect on the livelihoods of most wild animals. This is especially the case with hornbills and other small birds and animals that need wooden burrows as nesting sites. Their homelessness inspired the artist to create imitated housing for them - 200 terracotta pots, co-created by the artist and the potter community of Ban Klang in the Tha Uthen District of Nakhon Phanom Province. The terracotta pots are strong, rain-proof and ready to house birds and other small species. This installation in the city park aims to raise awareness of deforestation to all Thai city dwellers.
